Mary-Kay Executive, JoAnna Garcia Swisher and Alexa Vega
West Hollywood, CA- On September 27, celebrity narrators Maria Menounos, Alexa Vega and JoAnna Garcia Swisher joined amateur, female filmmakers and cosmetics giant Mary Kay to promote three, powerful, documentary films that shed light on the unpleasant issue of domestic violence.
To celebrate the films and to support Domestic Violence Awareness Month, Mary Kay has created three shades of Limited-Edition Beauty That Counts Mary Kay Creme Lipsticks, Give Joy, Give Hope and Give Dreams, each named after the documentary film that they represent.
The LuxLady had the immense privilege to sit and speak with JoAnna Garcia Swisher and Maria Menounos about their involvement with the films. JoAnna narrated the film entitled Give Hope. She was approached by Mary Kay to narrate one of the stories because of her involvement with charities that support women's issues. She stated that 1 in 4 women is a victim of domestic violence and that it is the leading cause of injury to women nationwide. Jo Anna and her husband Nick have joined forces and created the JoAnna and Nick Swisher Foundation to further champion their causes.
Maria's film was entitled Give Dreams. Empower and educating women is extremely important to her. Maria began her first charity Take Action Hollywood 11 years ago and continues to support various causes such as diabetes, and childhood cancer. In my interview with her she stated, "People don't really know how to help one another. We should reach out to support one another and research issues thoroughly so that we can come together and heal." She feels that the best thing that you can do for a friend is to be there for her and offer your strength, caring and support.
Additionally, actress and activist Alexa Vega narrated the film Give Joy which documents the healing process of spreading and having joy in our lives despite our challenges. All three films can be watched at http://www.marykayinspiringstories.com/.
